Team Ipswich Sports Personality of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • A performer who has made great progress over time, has achieved a great deal or has made a big difference to a team.
  • Must be aged 19 or over on 31st August 2010.

Team Ipswich Young Sports Personality of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • A performer who has made great progress over time, has achieved a great deal or has made a big difference to a team.
  • Must be aged 18 or under on 31st August 2010.

Team Ipswich Unsung Hero Award

Criteria:

  • A volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport. This could be an official, committee member, helper or anyone else who you feel deserves recognition for their dedication.

Please note - qualified coaches should be nominated for the 'Coach of the Year' award.

Team Ipswich Lifetime Achievement Award

Criteria:

  • The winner must have contributed significantly to sport in Ipswich during their lifetime.

Team Ipswich Triumph Over Adversity Award

Criteria:

  • An individual, team or organisation that has overcome obstacles and challenges to achieve success or make a valued contribution to their sport. Individuals could include performers, coaches, officials, committee members or other volunteers who you feel deserve recognition for their efforts in the face of adversity.

Team Ipswich Coach of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • A coach who holds a current, recognised National Governing Body coaching qualification.
  • This should be someone who is committed to delivering the highest standard of coaching to their performers and/or to helping other coaches to develop.

Team Ipswich Contribution to Disability Sport Award

Criteria:

  • An individual who has gone to great lengths to raise the profile of disability sport within Suffolk.
  • This could be someone who has gained funding, helped provide opportunities for disabled athletes or encouraged people with disabilities to get involved in sport.

Team Ipswich Young Community Volunteer of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • An individual, under the age of 18 on 30th September 2010, who has given up a substantial amount of time to volunteer in local sport in any capacity.

Team Ipswich Club of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • A club that has worked hard to encourage members of the community into their sport.
  • This could include specific achievements in any development area, such as increased junior membership, disability sport etc.
  • The club must hold Clubmark or equivalent NGB accreditation i.e. Charter Standard Community, Swim21 etc.

Team Ipswich Senior Team of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • A club team (with members aged 19 or older on 31st August 2010) that has achieved success or competed at a consistently high level throughout the year.
  • A team consisting of both junior and senior players is classified as a Senior Team.

Team Ipswich Junior Team of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • A school or club team (with all members aged 18 or younger on 31st August 2010) that has achieved success or competed at a consistently high level throughout the year.

Team Ipswich Innovative Project Award

Criteria:

  • A project run by an individual, club or community.
  • This could be a project that is new to the area, has lead to increased participation within different groups of society, attracted funding for new facilities/equipment or created new links between organisations.

The School of the Year Award

Criteria:

  • The school must have achieved 'Activemark' or 'Sportsmark'.
  • A school that gives its pupils a wide range of activities to participate in, within a high quality physical education programme.
  • A school that engages their pupils in a variety of extracurricular sport (the school should show commitment to School-Club links).
  • A school that accesses high quality competitive opportunities.
  • Dedicated to a Gifted & Talented Programme. Offers opportunities for Young Leaders to develop within the school environment (Primary Schools).
  • Provides opportunities for Sports Leaders and Community Volunteers to develop within and outside the school environment (Secondary Schools).

General Notes

  • All individuals nominated must either reside in Ipswich or be involved with an Ipswich sports organisation.
  • All organisations nominated must be based in Ipswich.
  • Nominees for “…….of the Year” categories will be assessed primarily on their achievements during the past year. The 'Year' runs from 1st September 2009 to 31st August 2010, although you can also refer to achievements beyond the past year if relevant.
  • Nominees for other categories (“Unsung Hero”, “Triumph Over Adversity”, “Lifetime Achievement” and “Contribution to Disability Sport”) will be assessed on all relevant achievements.
  • Winners of the Team Ipswich Awards may be nominated by Team Ipswich for county, regional or national Awards (run by Suffolk Sport, Sport England, BBC, Sports coach UK or other similar organisations) where corresponding categories exist.
  • Team Ipswich assessment panel may change the categories of nominations received to a more appropriate one.

The closing date for nominations is 1st September 2010.

Those candidates who are shortlisted for awards will be contacted by 17th September and invited to the Awards Ceremony.
