Ipswich residents are leading the country in choosing a healthy and active lifestyle. Evidence from Run for the Children shows Ipswich have more people registered for the Run for the Children Fun Run on May 7th than anywhere else in the country.
Mike Smithwick, national co-ordinator for Run for the Children, said: "Ipswich is leading by example nationally."
The 3km run (or walk) for runners, walkers, strollers, individuals, groups and in particular families taking part together is set in Chantry Park.
Ipswich Jaffa who have recently been awarded Club Mark status for providing a safe and friendly environment for youngsters are organising the event, in association with Team Ipswich and the School Sports Partnerships in the town, as part of a nationwide fitness programme. All entrants receive a commemorative medal and healthy exercise and eating booklet and have the opportunity to raise money for children with leukaemia.
So, if you would like to take your first steps to a ‘healthier you’ or encourage a friend or family member to do so it’s not too late. You can obtain your entry form from any Ipswich Borough Council Sports Centre or visit www.runforthechildren.co.uk
