The innovative Team Ipswich project, which was established in July 2005 to use the euphoria of the London Olympic announcement to further develop sport in the town, has achieved an unrivalled amount of media coverage.
Coverage has been phenomenal, with more than £200,000 of press coverage in newspapers and magazines in its first 6 months of operation. Add to that the shortlisting of Team Ipswich in a national campaigns competition and you have every reason why more organisations are joining the Team Ipswich banner.
Team Ipswich has been led by swimming legend Karen Pickering MBE, appointed by Ipswich Borough Council as the town’s first Ambassador for Sport. She and Team Ipswich manager Adam Baker have been spearheading the partnership between business and sport. John Grose, Ipswich Buses, One Anglia, Ipswich Evening Star, Prettys Solicitors and Mantra International are among the leading sponsors.
Mantra, a firm of media analysts, are giving their services free to team Ipswich. They have reported that 100% of media coverage has been positive - and you can’t get better than that!
The delivery of the Team Ipswich brand has been constant and effective. The logo has been printed in the press on no fewer than 40 occasions and media partners the Ipswich Evening Star have led the way. There has been a staggering 39,000 sq cm of written coverage and 7.5 million people that have had the opportunity to see it.
But broadcast media are also involved - the BBC and Anglia TV companies both reported the launch and Anglia attended the first Team Ipswich business lunch (guest of honour Steve Cram). Team Ipswich has also been highlighted in the business press.
Mantra managing director Brian Moore said: "We are pleased to help Team Ipswich grow. It is a strong brand and we want to do our bit to make it stronger. We have analysed the impact it is having among local people and those further afield and it is safe to say that its message that it is promoting sport and Ipswich is getting through. Its success will bring sporting, fitness and economic benefits to the town and help cement its position as being the regional centre for sport."
Mantra International is a well-respected firm with a number of blue chip clients. Its HQ is moving to IP-City centre on Ipswich Waterfront in June.
