2010 is turning out to be a fantastic season for Nicky Hunt in women’s compound archery.
Currently the UK's number one lady, she has already brought home two silver medals at the first two world cups of the year, which, combined with her performance last year puts her into the World number two slot!
In addition, she has secured a place in the Team England Commonwealth Games archery team, joining fellow Team Ipswich Elite Squad athlete Helen Decker and swimmer Chris Walker-Hebborn, in this exceptional classification on the word stage.
Nicky will be shooting at the forthcoming 3rd and 4th stages of the World Cup, and then the Commonweath Games in Delhi, India in October.
Nicky works as an NHS physiotherapist for Suffolk Community Healthcare, who have been supportive throughout her training, allowing her unpaid leave to participate in the Commonwealth Games and other international events and allowing her to reduce her working hours so she can train more effectively.
However, training for the Commonwealth Games incurs lots of additional costs, for example funding participation in domestic events, travel costs, covering costs accrued during unpaid leave from work, and purchasing equipment - to name just a few! As a result Nicky is looking for a company with whom she can begin a partnership, helping to promote them in return for support for her training. Nicky can offer local and national advertising, as well as a corporate day of archery for the associated company, and would be keen to speak to any organisations that may be interested.
This much needed commercial support would allow Nicky to train to the very best of her ability, bringing her closer to her dream of gaining two medals at the Games, in both the individual and team competitions, which based on her current form is a very achievable aim.
